Battlefields & Beyond started as a joint venture of Anthony and Bernadette, whose love of history was equalled only by their love of books. Both proprietors are dedicated to making high quality historical books, videos and other sources available to the general public and are always eager to help customers choose the proper item for researchers, armchair historians, students or gift givers. The staff at Battlefields & Beyond Military Book Shoppe provides some of the best customer service in a relaxed atmosphere.
Anthony J. Ten-Barge has teamed up with Bernadette as co-
proprietor of Battlefields & Beyond. For many years Tony has
collected military and political books and papers. Tony brings his knowledge of books and authors of American political history as well as the Civil War, American Revolution, and World War I to the unique concept of Battlefields & Beyond Military History Book Shoppe.
Bernadette Loeffel-Atkins, besides being an author and lecturer in her own right, has over a decade's experience managing bookstores in historic Gettysburg. Bernadette has an in depth knowledge of military books of all eras as well as the history of West Point Military Academy, nineteenth century mourning rituals and Victorian life. She is personally acquainted with many authors, their works and projects and always welcomes authors to introduce her to their works or hold booksignings.
Elizabeth A. Atkins, a.k.a. Beth, holds master's degrees in both history and German and is currently a Park Ranger at the Eisenhower National Historic Site. She specializes in women's history, World War II homefront studies and German history. She also maintains the Battlefields & Beyond website.
Melville is Battlefields & Beyond's loyal mascot. Rescued as a kitten during Hurricane Irene, he was adopted by Bernadette and Beth. His charm and love of people quickly showed that he would thrive in the bustling bookstore atmosphere. He now oversees book ordering, destroys houseplants, and ensures quality catnip toys are available for the furry friends back home!
